Ruben Grill & Deli - Obrzeżna 3

After a bit of controversy, a loss of their alcohol license and a disagreement with the tenants association of the building,  Kura has closed down its operation on Obrzeżna. You will be missed, but as they say...out with the old and in with the new. The new tenants, Ruben Grill & Deli, offer thick  slice of the reddest meat that oozes with taste.

We decide to go for the namesake 300g Ruben. The Reuben sandwich is a decadent tower of indulgence, a glorious culinary monstrosity that dares you to tackle it with every ounce of your appetite. Picture this: a mountain of tender, salty corned beef piled high, each slice layered with such meticulous care that it feels almost criminal to bite into. But bite you must, because nestled between the slices of perfectly toasted rye bread is a gooey symphony of Swiss cheese melted to molten perfection.

Then comes the tangy crunch of sauerkraut, its briny zest cutting through the richness like a maestro orchestrating harmony in this glorious chaos. Slathered liberally, unapologetically, is the creamy, sweet-and-spicy dressing, oozing with wild abandon from every crevice of this hedonistic masterpiece.

Every bite is an eruption of flavor, a carnal dance of savory, salty, tangy, and buttery decadence that leaves you unapologetically licking your fingers, shameless in your gluttony. It’s not just a sandwich—it’s an event, a rite of passage for your taste buds, and a reason to unapologetically loosen your belt in public.

The sandwich was so massive that I couldn't finish it (I weigh 52 kilos and stand at 155 cm, so this isn't really a shock to anyone). The prices aren't massive for the quality you get. We paid a bit above 50 euros for the two of us with drinks and small salads. I consider that a success.

Ruben Grill's did not disappoint. There will definitely be a second visit for one of their aged steaks. For those not in the know, aged steak is beef that has been carefully stored under controlled conditions to enhance its tenderness and flavor through natural enzymatic processes. Dry-aged steak develops a rich, nutty, and concentrated taste, while wet-aged steak remains juicier with a milder flavor profile. All in all Ruben's will probably become my new local hangout as it was that tasty. Sadly, they don't seem to have much of a vegan menu. But you know, sometimes a girl has to eat more than just vegetables.

Ruben's gets 4.5 dripping stars. The only minus I can see right now is the ambiance is a bit whatever and boring. Then again I came here for meat, not to be charmed by the wall paper.
